Tom Carter, Managing Director, has been with SOTS for nine years. In that time, he’s played a key role in guiding the company through some major moments.
From the challenges of the pandemic to changes in how people use and depend on technology, Tom’s leadership has helped shape the direction of the business.
We caught up with him to reflect on the journey so far and talk about what’s next.
What’s one thing you’ve learned in 9 years as MD?
That a company is only as good as the team you have. If you get the right people in the right place things become significantly easier.
A moment you’re most proud of?
I think the thing I am most proud of is picking things up as fast as I did when I first became MD. As MD you need to know a little bit about every element of the company, from accounts to HR, managing people to some technical knowledge. It’s been a steep learning curve but something I have enjoyed doing.
What’s changed the most since you started?
The economy, I started just before COVID 19 so during that it was a great time for tech as everyone was moving into remote working. Since then things have become far more challenging with ever increasing costs.
What’s next?
Keep growing, keep adapting. The industry doesn’t stand still — and neither will we.
